The Kinks. I have a hard time describing my appetite for the Kinks. When I think about “One for the Road” and review the tracks, I get really excited and start to salivate. It’s a bevy of great hits, one after the other:
- “Catch Me Now I’m Falling”
- “Where Have All the Good Times Gone”
- “All Day and All of the Night”
- “Low Budget”
- “(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman”
- “National Health”
- “Till the End of the Day”
- “Celluloid Heroes”
- “You Really Got Me”
The album rocks. It sounds great and lives up to the hype. From the opening “You Really Got Me” jam, really moves. Ray Davies sounds great. No one had his voice. The guitar work is classic British Invasion Rock.
Superman and Celluloid Heroes are great tracks Sometimes I shed a tear. Lola is a classic.
But somehow, when I’m done, I don’t feel full But I don’t want any more and I know I’m not going back for a while. And I know I’m not going to miss it.
I can’t explain it. Like Chinese food, I guess.
